Process Post #6
This week in lecture we had the privilege of hearing Mauve speak on web design and type on screens. She had a lot of wisdom to share, and I tried my best to soak it all up. Some of what she talked about I had heard of before, but there was a lot that I was unfamiliar with. I appreciated all that she had to say. I only wish I could have heard her speak sooner in the semester, as I think what she had to say would have helped me a lot in the earlier stages of my website. Mauve focused on the principles of design. According to Mauve…

Let’s Take the ‘Mis’ Out of Misinformation
In our world today where people are avid media consumerists misinformation is spread like wildfire through the means of fake news. With an easy repost button, platforms of influence, and the following anyone can share information regardless of the validity of what is being said. This online engagement allows for easy access to a vast majority of information that is created by highly accredited researchers, and also just the average opinionated person. Media platforms provide a network for this information to reach many people based on algorithms rather than credibility of source. We are in uncharted territory as we have entered a new era of news sources through its spread…

This week has been one of the most challenging ones since first starting my website. It was the first time that I really struggled with having things to write about. In previous weeks I was excited to write, as I knew what I wanted to talk about. They were all things that I am passionate about, and therefore mattered to me. I wasn’t trying to impress an audience, I was just being uniquely me. I think its a lot easier said than done to write for yourself and what makes you happy because to be completely honest with you I don’t think I know myself well enough to know what…

I created my website with a young female audience in mind. When I say young I mean teenager to young adult. Though that is who I have envisioned reading my work, I don’t think I have limited myself to only appealing to that demographic. Some things like my product reviews for makeup and fashion may be more directed to a certain group, but I think the section about my thoughts can speak to many people of various ages and genders. When I’m writing my blog posts I view my audience as a friend. I write to them as though I’m sharing with them my thoughts and ideas on different topics.…

It was an exciting week for Everything kenna. I posted my first blog! It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I thought I knew my voice, but after attempting to write my thoughts I realized I was far from knowing it. The more I continue to write the easier it will become writing in the voice I desire. On another note I downloaded the google analytics platform for Everything kenna, which allows me to monitor the traffic on my site. This feature is neat to look at. As of right now I have very few people looking at my sight, but when my fortune changes I…

Process Post #2
This last week was an exciting one. I got Everything kenna up and running! I used the platform Reclaim Hosting to set up and create my website. The most challenging part I came across in this step of the process was creating a name for my website that was clever and that fit with the aesthetic I was trying to achieve with my website. Eventually I came up with something that I thought encompassed what my website was going to be about, and that’s when Everything kenna was born. Before this past week I had never heard of the term cyberinfrastructure. I’m in the baby stages of my blog, so…

Talking to strangers is an artform. We go through life with the ability to interact and touch the lives of strangers through simple conversations, but rarely do we see this actually happen. It makes me sad to think that a communication tool like a phone could be used as a safety net from possible awkward situations, which ultimately keeps us from interacting with others. I believe it is one of the weaknesses of my generation, and I am guilty myself. My grandparents can go anywhere and they will soon know at least one person and their whole life story. They genuinely want to get to know the person, and their…
