Comments, oh the power they hold. We always want comments. We want to feel like people care about what we’re putting out into the world. On an instagram post the more comments correlate to your ‘popularity’ in a sense. We love to feel supported and have that validation that our content is good, but is that validation really worth the hate that can come with it? Hate comments have a real effect on people and their mental health. Major youtubers, social media influences, and many more have closed their comment sections, so that they can keep the hate comments from accumulating on their platforms.  I have never received a hate…

This last week I got to receive feedback from one of my classmates. I have had really bad luck with the last two peer reviews as the people I was partnered with didn’t do a review on me, so I was never able to hear what they had to say about my site and make improvements. I was excited to see what my peer had to say (if I’m being honest I thought he was going to love everything about it), and to be totally transparent with you guys I found it challenging taking his feedback as constructive criticism. I have made myself extremely vulnerable by making my website so…

I feel like I am really getting the hang of this blogging thing. I’m getting in a good routine, and I like the content I’m putting out there. My site is coming together. The contents there, the aesthetic and look of the site is what I want, but there is a lack of readers. Although I didn’t create this blog for millions of viewers, it would be nice to have people read and follow what I put out there. It has come to my attention that I need to utilize SEO. I have found this challenging because before this last week I had no idea what SEO was. All I…

Analytics (Google, Facebook, Twitter etc.) is a very valuable tool for building your audience. For content creators, knowing how your reader behaves on your website can help enormously with developing the best content, posting at the right time, and developing the appropriate engagement strategies. On the flip side, for the reader or user, it can be tiresome and even worrisome knowing you are providing data trails every where you go online. I find it easy to get mesmerized by the analytics of the people viewing my content. My first exposure to this side of being a content creator was a couple years ago when instagram provided its users with the…

The time has finally come. Artificial Intelligence is taking over. I have always been a skeptic of AI and its capabilities, but I can no longer deny how far technology has come. Although I think it is amazing all that AI’s like DALL-E2 and ChatGDT can do, it does frighten me a bit. Used as a tool, I think these AI’s can do a lot of great things, but I think there’s a fine line between what we should have the AI do for us, and what we should do ourselves. As soon as the AI starts thinking for us, the use of AI is wrong. People have fought for…

This week in lecture we had the privilege of hearing Mauve speak on web design and type on screens. She had a lot of wisdom to share, and I tried my best to soak it all up. Some of what she talked about I had heard of before, but there was a lot that I was unfamiliar with. I appreciated all that she had to say. I only wish I could have heard her speak sooner in the semester, as I think what she had to say would have helped me a lot in the earlier stages of my website.  Mauve focused on the principles of design. According to Mauve…

This week has been one of the most challenging ones since first starting my website. It was the first time that I really struggled with having things to write about. In previous weeks I was excited to write, as I knew what I wanted to talk about. They were all things that I am passionate about, and therefore mattered to me. I wasn’t trying to impress an audience, I was just being uniquely me.  I think its a lot easier said than done to write for yourself and what makes you happy because to be completely honest with you I don’t think I know myself well enough to know what…

I created my website with a young female audience in mind. When I say young I mean teenager to young adult. Though that is who I have envisioned reading my work, I don’t think I have limited myself to only appealing to that demographic. Some things like my product reviews for makeup and fashion may be more directed to a certain group, but I think the section about my thoughts can speak to many people of various ages and genders.  When I’m writing my blog posts I view my audience as a friend. I write to them as though I’m sharing with them my thoughts and ideas on different topics.…

It was an exciting week for Everything kenna. I posted my first blog! It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I thought I knew my voice, but after attempting to write my thoughts I realized I was far from knowing it. The more I continue to write the easier it will become writing in the voice I desire.  On another note I downloaded the google analytics platform for Everything kenna, which allows me to monitor the traffic on my site. This feature is neat to look at. As of right now I have very few people looking at my sight, but when my fortune changes I…

This last week was an exciting one. I got Everything kenna up and running! I used the platform Reclaim Hosting to set up and create my website. The most challenging part I came across in this step of the process was creating a name for my website that was clever and that fit with the aesthetic I was trying to achieve with my website. Eventually I came up with something that I thought encompassed what my website was going to be about, and that’s when Everything kenna was born.  Before this past week I had never heard of the term cyberinfrastructure. I’m in the baby stages of my blog, so…
